Historical Perspective

Shaheed Captain Vikram Batra Govt. College, Palampur (Kangra) came into existence as Govt. College Palampur vide Govt. of Himachal Pradesh, Education Department Notification No. Chha(15), 3/86-Shiksha ka-II Dated 07-04- 1995. Later it was renamed in the memory of Capt. Vikram Batra (Param Veer Chakra) the martyr and Hero of Kargil war, 1999. The College was recognized by UGC under section 2(f) & 12(B) of the UGC Act. 1956, vide latter No. 8-471/2008(CPP-I) dated 29 Sep, 2009. Shershah of Kargil War – Amar Sahid CaptainVikram Batra, PVC, who at the age of 24 sacrificed his life for the Nation during Kargil war in 1999, is remembered by every Indian for his valour, courage and leadership qualities.

Since its inception, the college has built up an impressive array of academic facilities and continuously adding more jewels into its academic basket. At present it is imparting education for both Graduate and Post-Graduate students in different disciplines. Besides this, the college administration under the able guidance of the then Principal, Dr. Anil K Jaryal Jaryaladded one more feather in the field of open education by starting IGNOU Study Centre at the college in June 2016. Since then, it is growing by each passing day and catering to the needs of those students, learners who could not afford education through regular mode due to one or other reasons.

Objective

To assist and guide the education seekers to improve their academic qualification through open education system at their doorstep.

Query Redressal Mechanism

The IGNOU Study Centre Palampur is in regular contact with all learners and try to resolve all their queries related to Examinations, Assignments, Admissions/Registration, Re-registrations, and study materials, etc. via various social media platforms like WhatsApp, Email, etc. We at the centre assist the new learners in getting registered and admitted.

Induction Meeting

The induction meetings for the students of January, as well as July sessions are organized by the study centre on the recommendation of the Regional Centre twice a year. Detailed information is provided to the learners through social platforms and college website.

Counselling Activities

The learners are regularly counselled about their studies and assignments by the Counsellors. The students are encouraged to make more and more use of online platforms for their studies and Counsellors try to guide the students personally and through other social platforms.

Assignments

Learners can submit their assignments both online as well as offline. We receive all the assignments offline for both sessions.

Admissions

The admission to all courses is done twice a year. The admission done in JANUARY fall in January Cycle and the admission done in JULY fall in July Cycle.

Examinations

The examinations are conducted twice in a year i.e. in JUNE and DECEMBER months of the year. The Hall Ticket is mandatory for the entry in the Examination Hall.
